Welcome to g-spoRts! Welcome readers! March 17, 2002 was the day that g-spoRts opened its doors. In February 2002 I was laid off from my position as an Engineer with a well known IT company, as part of their massive corporate fiscal savings plan. After one month of watching television, surfing sports web sites, and listening to AM sports radio, I decided to take on a new endeavor. In order to occupy my spare time, I chose to marry two of my hobbies, sports and computers, which consummated in the birth of g-spoRts! g-spoRts was initially created to be a time-consuming venture where I could express my opinions about the great and ridiculous stories that come from the wide world of sports and beyond. It was supposed to occupy the time of an unemployed software engineer. But over a year later it has blossomed into so much more. This site became my personal sports journalism resume, relaying into writing gigs with ESPN.com, TheSportingNews.com, and a job as the Senior Editor of a former fantasy sports web site, RotoGM.com. I also spent three years as ESPN.com's fantasy basketball correspondent for the San Antonio Spurs and one year as ESPN.com's fantasy football correspondent for the Houston Texans. Unfortunately the site has become a distant memory in my life - as other ventures have taken precedence over the years. However, I will keep the domain registered and the old articles up for your perusal should I feel the need to begin writing once more. Amol Gavankar
